My View

During my six weeks internship I had the chance to experience many thing, most of them (almost all) thanks to the wonderful staff I worked with. I have to thank them for my personal growth and the hundreds things I have learned from them. I think Malaysia is an amazing country, but is not the weather or the colors and the landscape that impact me the most, are the people I met there. As I say the staff working in this home, with their love for what they are doing, show me that there is no need to do big things, even one hand can make the difference for the children. I met the children in the home and feel really lucky to have the opportunity to spend time with them, they show me the easiest kind of love, they show me that even a smile and a hand shake can change a cloudy day into sunny. I met the little kids and I fall in love with their smile while reading and singing to them, while holding them for make them walk and feeding them, and sometimes just by hearing my voice. All this have change many things inside me, making me a stronger person and showing me the road I want to take in my future. Thanks a lot for the opportunity to be a little part of this great home.

This is an amazing home and I am honoured to have had the opportunity to volunteer here. Words cannot express how wonderful my experience was here. I love the home, the staff and the children. This is an experience that has had a huge positive impact on my life and also made me realize how fortunate I am. I am a Nurse from Canada and I am not used to working in a home like this so it took some getting used to but I loved it and it was really hard for me to say goodbye after 6 weeks as I felt like this home is where I belong. I had the experience of a lifetime here and the staff are so generous and welcoming. They made me feel at home here and gave us everything we needed and more. I am thankful to Mr Rajamanikam, PIS for providing these kids with the necessities of life. I will definitely come back and visit as this home became my second home. The kids are happy here and the staff are really great and take care of them like the children are their own which is very touching to see. Thank you again for everything and keep doing what you are doing for the kids because you guys do a great job! God Bless You!

I feel really blessed that I could work in this place. I loved being with patients and I will never forget them. I also learned a lot from your staff workers. They made me better professional, but they also become my friends. They inspired me with their enthusiastic approach to the patients and their devotion to this difficult job. I am so happy that I took the chance to spend six weeks in the Handicapped and Mentally Disabled Children's Association. I really felt at home here and everyone took care of me during my stay.I am studying special education and it was a great experience for me to work with the patients. Compared to Germany it is totally different here, but after a few days everything became normal to me. The patients made me laugh all day and I will miss the hugs, the smiles... everything.

The home is a great place to spend time as a volunteer. If you have a chance to stay longer than 6 weeks: do it! I really enjoyed my stay here, the work with all the different patients is very interesting and each day you will meet someone or something new. Already after 6 weeks this place became home for me, ale the staff and especially the patients make you feel so welcome and it's easy to get in touch with them. Just be creative and exchange your knowledge with them. The boy on the picture is Alif, but we just call him "Adik" (little brother), because he is staying here with his big sister. Both of them are so adorable and they will make you laugh when you spend time with them. I am going to miss this place a lot and I am so thankful for this experience!
