History - Mr. V. Rajamanikam PIS History

The Handicapped And Mentally Disabled Children Association Johor Bahru, Johor is situated at Lot 5042, Jalan Indah Permai 9, Taman Saleng Indah, 81400 Saleng, Johor Darul Takzim. It is single handedly run by Mr. V. Rajamanikam.

The centre was set up on May 1, 1990 with 7 inmates and solely dependent on Public donations. The children were victims of physical, sexual or mental abuse by parents. Understanding the concept of God may be difficult for these children however what they do understand is that Mr. V. Rajamanikam is the man of our needs. Now the centre occupies more than 100 children and there are still people coming in.

Mr. V. Rajamanikam has his own family in Kulai, Johor. Apart from being blessed with a wife, a son and a daughter, his son in law, Mr. Murugaiyah is the 2nd man for the centre in Melodies Garden Johor Bahru.

During the past 10 years Mr. V. Rajamanikam received numerous awards for his tremendous contribution. He received “The Guinness Stout Effort Award in 1992 from former Menteri Besar Johor (YAB Tan Sri Muhiddin bin Yassin). In the same year he went to Calcutta, India to visit Mother Theresa. In 1996 he received “ Heart of Gold Award” from Johor Sultan organized by News Straits Times for his outstanding humanitarian service for the betterment of society

Besides being visited by local social homes, some foreign from Japan Yokohama International College Social Welfare too had a trip here. They were astonished with Mr. V. Rajamanikam’s capability and they personally invited him to pay a visit to their welfare centre in Japan way back in 1996. The Japanese promised to donate some equipment and willing to provide any advise for the good will of the centre.

Admired with his continues effort again in 1997 Sultan Johor honored him with P.I.S award. This has indeed had given Mr. V. Rajamanikam the courage to strive harder to improve the lifestyle of the children.Up to this date, there are 3 centres in Peninsula Malaysia under Mr. V. Rajamanikam;s guidance. With the amount reaching 170 children, there are approximately 35 staff attached to these centres and not to miss the amount of volunteer workers. Some of the volunteers are from Germany, Japan, Singapore and etc. These organization needs public support as the monthly expenses reaches RM 30,000 per center.

Since the amount of children increasing rapidly in Johor centre, Mr. V.Rajamanikam have bought a piece of land in Lot 5042, Jalan Indah Permai 9, Taman Saleng Indah, 81400, Saleng, Johor for 4.3 acres worth RM 590,250.00 thousand. Construction work is under progress and this project is targeted to completed by end this year.More than 300 children can be accommodate in this new centre and it promises better facilities for the children such as medical, hostel, study room and etc. The centre is sponsored RM 1.2 million by a Chinese businessman and requested us not reveal his name to public. We are still having a short fall of more than RM 400,000.00 thousand for maintenance purposes. We urge generous humanitarians to donate some money for the new coming centre On behalf of Mr Rajamanikam and staffs we would like to thank public for continues support forever.
